Swedegeek.com is the creation of me, Blake Nyquist. As a quick bio, I live and work in Lansing, MI. I live with my lovely wife Megan and our two cats, Otto and Nels. I work for a small software development firm that does contract work for various public and private entities throughout the state. I also occasionally take on freelance web-related projects as nYq Design Studio with the aid of my brother.
If I were to ever have free time, I would enjoy a good book or movie. My two participatory sports are golf and bowling. I average about 190 in one and 100 in the other. I am also a huge classical music fan. One of my life goals is to tour Europe and go to concerts of all the major orchestras that have been around for centuries. Other than that, I usually spend a few “moments” outside of work on the computer keeping up with the latest news, technologies, etc. If not that, Megan and I try to catch a decent show on the telly or a make a stroll through the neighborhood.
Why Swedegeek? Well, because I’m Swedish and a geek, of course. About 90% of one and 100% of the other. My mother says it’s closer to 75% on the Swedish, but what does she know of such matters?! So, it’s (mostly) accurate and I think it’s kind of catchy. I’ve been using this handle for at least 6 years now, so I am indeed the original Swedegeek. Don’t be fooled by any knock-offs trying to impersonate me.
